Kentville Baptist Church is involved in the greater Kentville community and ministries of compassion.

Kings County Family Resource Centre - The staff is excited to provide parents and children with a unique opportunity for support growth and learning. The ten month program provides parents and children a stable environment whereby positive parenting, personal development and community networking can take place. Each month a special parent/child day is planned to provide new experiences for the family unit. The Family Support Centre is made possible through the generosity and support of all members of the Kentville United Baptist Church and Prevention Funds from the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services. Over the past 20 years of operation the Family Support Centre has touched the lives of hundreds of families and enabled positive change education and friendships.

Emergency Food Assistance (EFA) Voucher Program - offered Wednesdays from 10 - 11 am (except the last Wednesday of the month) only, emergency food assistance (EFA) is made available.  This is funded by entirely by the generosity of those who contribute to our benevolent offering received at the monthly communion services.

  • Recipients must be residents of Kentville (proof of address is required).
  • Recipients must appear in person to apply for or receive voucher.
  • Recipients only eligible every eight weeks.
  • Program is administrated entirely by volunteers who come on-site to our church facility during the specified voucher times only. Alternate times for voucher application or pickup therefore can not be arranged.

Other ways that we help: This church is a Christian house of worship, facilitating opportunities for prayer, worship and discipleship in the Baptist tradition. We provide facilities, leadership and resources to help people experience the life transforming power that faith in Jesus Christ offers, in the context of our church community. Kentville Baptist Church is "committed to being and making disciples of Jesus Christ, united in a spiritually healthy, growing, covenant fellowship". From that perspective, it's important to remember that we do not have the same mission, mandate, purpose or resources as the soup kitchen, the Food bank, or other Government or community organizations.

At the same time, we believe that the members and friends of Kentville Baptist Church practically demonstrate God’s love, mercy and concern for others by helping to support those in need through their generous contributions that fund our EFA food voucher program, and our support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the Fundy Interchurch Council Foodbank (78 River Street, Kentville, 679-3664), and the Christmas hamper program (each December). We also help others through our support of various local and global mission projects (such as the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, or our support of The Sharing Way, and many others), our support the Kings County Family Resource Centre, and in terms of our own church programs and events, offering nearly everything completely free of charge (including DVBS, Sunday School, Adventure Club, Youth Groups, Kids for Christ, etc.).

Ministries
Holistic Small Groups are small groups that are disciple-making communities in which individuals experience acceptance and mutual caring, and are helped to grow in Christlikeness through interaction with one another in conversation, prayer, and the study of God's Word (Acts 2:42-47; Romans 16:5; Hebrews 10:19-25; 1 Peter 3:8). Below are some of the small groups, and other ministries that take place at Kentville Baptist Church:

Believing and Belonging Class: Are you considering the next step on your spiritual journey? Are you exploring your own faith involvement? Are you seeking to know more about Jesus and His church? Our pastor extends an invitation to you to attend an upcoming "Believing and Belonging" class.

Mid-Week Bible Study: Wednesday evenings, 7:00 pm at the church (Sept. - June).

Adult Fellowship Group: Third Saturday of each month, 7:00 pm at the church (Sept. - June).

Bread for the Journey: Every second Friday evening (Sept. - June).

New Traditions: Third Saturday of each month (Sept. - June).

Ladies Auxilliary: Meets on fourth Monday of each month except July and August. We have a business meeting followed by an interesting program or speaker. Our major project is our annual Christmas Tea and Sale. We also cater to wedding and anniversary receptions, funeral receptions, and other special occasions. New members are always welcome.

Ladies Quilters: The Baptist quilters have been meeting for approximately 30 years, and contribute regularly to the finances of the church with all of the money earned from quilting. If you are a quilter and have a few free hours per week, we would love to have you join our group.

Ethel Fenerty Mission Group: Meets second Tuesday of each month at the church, 2:00 pm, to study and support overseas and home missions.

We are of all ages, from different communities and backgrounds, who come together for support as we work through our losses. We meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Church Parlour from 2-4 PM and light refreshments are provided. There are no fees charged although donations help us purchase supplies and acquire additional resources. There is a small lending library You are never asked to share more than you feel you can. Healing occurs as we learn and work together in an atmosphere of genuine understanding and caring. Remember it is never too early or too late to reach out for a caring friend.
